Join us for an evening of botanical exploration on paper. Working with cuttings from the Museum’s native plants garden, participants will create a plant portrait page using pencil and color media. We will study the shape, gesture, structure, and color of our specimens so that we may understand and describe on paper the plant’s unique features. A scientific description of the species, as well as sample illustrations, will be provided for your reference. Learn botanical rendering techniques, tips and tricks and gain a better appreciation for your local natives through art. The subject of this class will be Scrophularia californica, also known as California bee plant or California figwort.
