Pearl Album Art
To complement the dreamy mood of this gypsy jazz album, I wanted to create a whimsical image that felt elegant and old-timey.
I chose bluebells (an heirloom flower, traditionally symbolizing everlasting love) and an azure-billed magpie. The title track on the album lilts along about a love far across the sea, and hearing this magpie sing is believed to be a foretelling of happiness.
I alluded to the pearl/special object reference with a berry held in the magpie's beak (as if the bird is carrying this berry, rather than eating it) and drew decorative, engraver's-inspired lettering for the title to finish off the antique look.
